Blue Mountain Ocean Series
Fall 2023.
During a visit to Asheville, I stood on an overlook with my husband and two daughters, gazing at a panorama of blue mountains enveloped in mist. My 4-year-old pointed to the scene and inquired, "Is that water?" It was the interplay of the blue hue and the ambiguity of perception that I aimed to explore with this series.
A series of mugs and vases, fired to Cone 6, with slip, brushing media, mason stains, amaco underglaze, and Amaco Matte White and Amaco Matte Clear glazes.
